WiMAX FAQs part two

WiMAX is a complex technology, and with intricate technologies, there are a number of terms and new ideas that can be confusing. In an attempt to delve deeper than our first post, we’ve provided a second round of WiMAX frequently asked questions. What kind of safety can I expect from WiMAX?WiMAX devices are extremely safe. The safety each device exhibits can be attributed to the WiMAX standard (otherwise known as the IEEE 802.16 standard). The safety of the products is supported by the technology used within this standard (which is widely deployed). Power amounts do vary depending on frequency, but most top out at 40 watts (at tower relay site). Read more »

WiMAX FAQ

If this is your first time exploring the technicalities of WiMAX, there’s a good chance you have multiple questions about the technology. You may be wondering what type of coverage WiMAX users get or where the idea even originated from. When it comes to some of the general questions, we’ve compiled a list of answers. How much coverage does WiMAXoffer? Most commonly, the average WiMAX coverage reaches roughly 4-5 miles. This distance references a non line of sight capable frequencies (also referred to as NLOS). When we also consider line of sight (LOS), this distance can reach 10 miles. While anything beyond 10 miles can occur, it isn’t recommended for heavily loaded networks. Read more »
