WiMax is one of the biggest breakthroughs in wireless technology today with a vision for tomorrow. From a fixed tower the WiMax can send out an internet signal for a distance of up to thirty miles away. That is much farther than the measly three hundred feet you typically could get at hotspots in the past. In the future it will be available from anywhere in most of the large cities in the country.

If you already own a laptop you can buy an air card or USB drive to attach to your laptop which will enable you to receive the WiMax signal. In the future laptops will come with the card pre-installed in them. Now you can use your mobile devices to pick up a secure DSL signal in public places like park. Imagine being able to get directions from your laptop while driving down the road without having to stop.

There will be several options for connecting to WiMax where you can pay a monthly rate or a daily rate for unlimited usage of the internet. The mobile account will allow you to use your password and user name on several devices but only one at a time.
