Tips About How to Use WiMAX Technology
WiMax is the wave of the future, a future dominated by high-speed broadband internet access everywhere and anywhere. If you’re a current or potential owner of a WiMax device, here are some tips to help you take WiMax to its maximum potential:
- Move the device to a higher elevation clear of obstructions
Like cellphones, WiMax devices connect to local towers via wireless signals. To get the best signal strength, move the device to an area free of obstructions, and try moving the device to a higher elevation.
- Call your service provider and ask for a list of towers
Although many cities have achieved city-wide WiMax coverage, areas far away from the towers still have a weaker signal and thus slower speeds. Ask your service provider for a list of local towers so that you can be sure to move near them when browsing on the go.
- Use a wireless router to rebroadcast a weak signal
If the signal in your home is poor except for a few select areas, but would like to use it elsewhere around the house: connect it to a wireless router and rebroadcast as WiFi. This can be picked up by many devices such as laptops. If your device is a phone and cannot be attached to a router, call your phone provider and ask if your phone can broadcast WiFi like a router (many can).
